SupremeCourt Justice Surya Kant led bench to hear bail plea of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in CBI case on 14th August 2024. Will Arvind be out before Independence Day ???

Great Master of Roster. If another Bench has already heard the same case (Justice Gavai’s Bench), convention and rules require similar cases to go before the same Bench so that conflicting orders are not passed. Of course, the Chief Justice can override these “rules”.

Launching the campaign, Delhi minister Atishi said all leaders and workers of the AAP will use the "Satyamev Jayate" display picture on their social media handles from 3 pm on Tuesday, 13 August.

Likening AAP to colonised Indians during the British Raj, Atishi said, “From the past two years the BJP-led Central government has left no stone unturned to harass the AAP-led Delhi government. False cases were filed against the leaders of AAP. They didn't find a single rupee of corruption."

A stunningly bold must read piece by Justice (retd) Rekha Sharma rips apart the judiciary conduct in dealing with Arvind Kejriwal & Manish Sisodia cases. Freedom has come at a heavy price for Sosodia. How could a High Court Judge have stayed Kejriwal's bail without even reading the trial court order ?

An excellent analysis of SC bail order on @msisodia  What a well reasoned indictment of SC's earlier order rejecting bail to him just because the prosecution's baseless assurances

According to Senior Lawyers — Manish Sisodia's bail will have an impact Arvind Kejriwal's Bail plea

Sidharth Luthra: "Bail should be the rule, not the exception. This sets a strong precedent that could benefit Kejriwal.

" Sanjay Hegde: "This ruling suggests Kejriwal might see a similar outcome soon.

" Vikas Pahwa: "The decision emphasizes personal liberty, crucial for Kejriwal’s case

." Sanjoy Ghose: "This ruling could affect not only Kejriwal but other similar cases across courts."

The General Administration Department, Delhi government, has denied the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's request to authorize Minister Atishi Marlena to hoist the national flag on August 15, stating that it is "legally invalid and cannot be acted upon".

#SupremeCourt - Bail is the rule, jail is the exception applied even in special statutes. When there is a case for grant of bail the court should not hesitate to grant bail. Allegations may be very serious but the court's duty is to consider the case for bail in accordance with law.

The period of crisis has a unique characteristic. It either breaks you or leaves you with a renewed resolve. I see a renewed resolve in all AAP workers and leaders.

Right now, every moment of every day, we humans are reconfiguring Earth’s climate bit by bit. Hotter summers and wetter storms. Higher seas and fiercer wildfires. The steady, upward turn of the dial on a host of threats to our homes, our societies and the environment around us.

We might also be changing the climate in an even bigger way.

For the past two decades, scientists have been raising alarms about great systems in the natural world that warming, caused by carbon emissions, might be pushing toward collapse. These systems are so vast that they can stay somewhat in balance even as temperatures rise. But only to a point.

Once we warm the planet beyond certain levels, this balance might be lost, scientists say. The effects would be sweeping and hard to reverse. Not like the turning of a dial, but the flipping of a switch. One that wouldn’t be easily flipped back.

“Over the last few decades, I have in public interest taken up issues against successive governments. But I don’t think I deserve to be selectively targeted because of that. Maybe I am paying the price for having taken on the might of Smriti Irani…I hope the MHA will be fair and just while not being influenced by forces that want to be vindictive…In case of a continued witch-hunt, I hope to get justice from god and the judiciary.”

In an interview with Times of India, Sisodia said he spent 530 days in jail on “fake charges” but these fights gave positive results. “In jail, I used to have mood swings, sometimes after watching the news on TV, or due to the fate of my own case, or because of the general political discourse in the country. Incidents like the Hathras stampede and wrestlers’ protest disturbed me. I was in jail when the elections were going on. I felt like a soldier of King Rukmi (a character in Mahabharata who was not taken by either side and watched the war from the fence) who could not fight the war and felt restless. Imagine the emotions of a warrior who has been confined or isolated when the war is on. I lived that life. It was painful,” Sisodia said.

Your smartphone is frying your brain: Neuroscientist explains how increased screen time is impacting our lives

Smartphones ‘frying’ our brains refers to the increasing negative impact caused by the overuse of your phone. It suggests the state of the brain is overstimulated and possibly harmed by constant dopamine hits and stress responses owing to frequent smartphone use.

During the podcast, Dr Suzuki pointed out that the increasing dependence on smartphones is rewiring our neural pathways, reducing the potential for brain growth, and eventually impacting our overall well-being. She also talked about how increased screen time, especially through social media use, is leading to more anxiety, depression, and a decrease in human connections which is crucial for brain health.

Exposure to microplastics or nanoplastics is emerging as a major global concern as it adversely impacts health and environment.

Micro- and nano-plastics (MNPs) pollution has become a pressing global environmental issue, with growing concerns regarding its impact on human health.

Microplastics are found in the oceans, remote islands, and polar regions and are emerging as a major threat to ecosystems due to their direct and indirect potentials as environmental pollutants. No international consensus has been reached regarding the definition of microplastics, such as the size cutoff and materials involved. Microplastics are usually produced intentionally or generated when large synthetic polymer products, such as plastic packaging, are not properly disposed of or treated.
