Medical nutrition therapy is essential for the care of critically ill patients but uncertainties remain despite years of research, including optimal protein intake. Traditionally, high protein intakes (ie, up to 2 g/kg per [concentration of mass in gram relative to the mass of 1 kg] day) were thought to be beneficial during the acute phase due to data from older observational studies published in the past few decades. Since 2023, however, the potential benefits of high protein intakes have been questioned by meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials comparing standard protein (ie, approximately 1 g/kg per day) and high protein (ie, approximately 1·5 g/kg per day) intakes and observational studies with low statistical bias.

High protein intakes did not significantly improve major clinical outcomes, such as length of intensive care unit (ICU) or hospital stay, duration of mechanical ventilation, incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI), or all-cause mortality rates.

Nevertheless, some results suggest that high protein intakes improve nitrogen balance 4and minimised muscle loss.

Pending money under NHM and special assistance, it is also working on finding out a way to get Rural Development Fund (RDF) and Mandi Development Fund (MDF) pending with the Centre to the tune of Rs 6767 crore.

The cash-starved Punjab government has found a middle path to seek the held up grants under National Health Mission (NHM) by planning to propose to the Centre that it would re-name the Aam Aadmi Clinics as Ayushman Arogya Centres, instead of Ayushman Arogya Mandir.

An amount of Rs 1,120.8 crore, pending with the Centre under NHM, has not been credited to Punjab’s account on the plea that the Aam Aadmi Party-led government was not following the branding, required under the scheme of Centre.

The Cemtre had earlier made it clear that Punjab has not adhered to the branding norms for Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) — now known as Ayushman Arogya Mandir — thereby violating the guidelines on the scheme for special assistance to the states.

Factors Influencing the Political Parties of the World

  • Policy Shaping: A party’s substantial impact on policy formation, either legislatively or through public disclosure, denotes its size and away.

  • Media Visibility: Parties extensively covered in the media due to size, electoral success or influential leaders are commonly recognized as major players.

  • Public Recognition: Parties widely acknowledged with a strong public presence are generally deemed significant, shaped by a combination of the aforementioned factors.

On an economic plane, the entire wealth of the country was concentrated in a few hands whereas the vast majority found it difficult to eat even two meals a day.

Where the mind is without fear and knowledge is free — public libraries are emblematic of this sort of freedom. Even in the age of the internet, when information is available at the fingertips, accessibility to knowledge may not be egalitarian or affordable. This is because evolving technologies may be expensive for those on the margins; the elderly may also find them difficult to navigate. A free public library, on the other hand, is a space that is open to all regardless of social or economic background. In a country like India, with a long history of gatekeeping knowledge and systemically excluding specific communities from reading and learning because they belong to the ‘wrong’ caste or gender, free public libraries can democratise knowledge in the truest sense.

Gopla Krisha Gandhi : He says Prof Yunus faces an assassination threat.
