Whatever could be done for the reinstatement of bus marshals, our party and government have done it. We even got a proposal passed in the assembly. But now BJP is reneging on its promise. If any proposal is passed from the assembly then it is official and LG sahab should give time regarding it but he did not give it. We want LG sahab to give time and reinstate the bus marshals.
A war-like situation has arisen between Israel and Iran. Many Indian families are worried because their family members are working in these countries. I humbly request the Indian government to make arrangements to bring back all the Indians living there who want to return, in mission mode as soon as possible. I hope that the situation in these countries will improve soon and peace will be established in the world.

Blessed are these sons of Mother India). Her comments, perceived as diminishing Gandhi’s role, sparked outrage, from both BJP and Opposition leaders.

Life expectancy in men could rise by a year on cutting down smoking, predictive models show
Cutting down smoking to five per cent of current rates by 2050 would increase life expectancy by a year among men and 0.2 years in women, according to recent global modelling studies published in The Lancet Public Health journal.
The researchers found that based on current trends, smoking rates around the world could continue to reduce to 21 per cent in men and about four per cent in women by 2050.Along with improving life expectancy, accelerating efforts to eliminate tobacco smoking could avoid 876 million years of lives lost to death, researchers forming the Global Burden of Disease, Injuries and Risk Factors (GBD) Tobacco Forecasting Collaborators said.

Poll strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor, launched his own political party, Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), in Bihar on October 2.
Political strategist-turned activist Prashant Kishor on Wednesday launched his political outfit—Jan Suraaj Party—in the state capital and announced the appointment of an IITian and retired Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Manoj Bharti as its first working president.
He revealed that the revenue collected after the end of prohibition would be spent on providing quality education to the children. “Our new education system will be world-class. People from abroad will come to Bihar to pursue higher education as the state was earlier known for,” he added.
India is one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of wheat and rice. Research organizations here, like their counterparts around the world, have long worked to produce seeds that increase yields, withstand drought or resist plant diseases. It’s a growing need as a changing climate leads to more extreme and unpredictable weather.
According to a United Nations report released earlier this year, more than 700 million [ 70 Crores ] people went hungry last year and over a third of the global population is unable to afford a healthy diet, thus increasing the urgency for resilient seeds that can produce food reliably. Apart from India, other programs including a United States government program and privately funded projects are helping develop climate-resilient crops in Africa, Central America and other Asian countries.
Defending against climate shocks
As climate change intensifies, India’s nearly 120 million farmers — most with less than 5 acres of land — are seeing their livelihoods threatened by erratic rainfall patterns, rising temperatures and increased pest infestations.
Some are taking to what is called natural farming — techniques like using natural fertilizers and planting crops alongside trees and other plants that can protect crops from wind, erosion and some extreme weather — to deal with climate change. But that can mean reduced yields, and India’s federal government is also promoting the use of climate-resilient seeds that don’t compromise yields.

MOHAN GURUSWAMY:
Is Narendra Modi too a Lame Duck?
The waning days of a leader's life are always plagued with questions of the individual’s health and, by implication, longevity. The nearness of the end of life, in effect, makes the leader, however powerful he or she might seem, a lame duck leader.
The term lame duck is an Americanism that refers to an elected official who is approaching the end of his or her tenure, and especially an official whose successor has already been elected. A lame duck status invariably entails a swift loss of political legitimacy and authority, making official power a weak instrument. Leaders fear this more than death itself.
ATAL BEHARI VAJPAYEE
Closer to home we have the case of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. He was diagnosed as stricken with Alzheimer’s soon after he lost the 2004 elections. But Alzheimer’s is not a sudden onset ailment. All through the preceding few years there were signs of a fading memory. He kept calling Jaswant Singh Yashwant Sinha and vice versa. He forgot Pramod Mahajan’s name at a public meeting. He would suddenly go blank in meetings.
But clearly there were many vested interests in keeping the charade going. Ranjan Bhattacharya and Brijesh Mishra were the obvious beneficiaries. There were many others in India and abroad who were entirely too happy with the situation. The Americans fawned upon Brijesh Mishra. LK Advani was happy as the succession line was made clear with him being named the deputy prime minister. All that was needed to keep the play going till the 2004 elections, which the BJP expected to win with Vajpayee as its flag-bearer. Now consider this too. Not long after the 2004 debacle, the then defence minister George Fernandes too was detected to be suffering from Alzheimer’s. Now think of this alarming situation. The prime minister and the defence minister, the top two in the nuclear command chain are afflicted with Alzheimer’s. Yet they are vested with war and holocaust powers? It was also so in the case of US president Ronald Reagan.
That’s why I like Narendra Modi’s 75-year age cut-off for politicians. I would actually prefer a 70 years cut-off. Narendra Modi is now 74. He is at a chronological age which is past the average Indian life expectancy and his future electoral life is very finite given present trends. A clutch of defeats in the forthcoming assembly elections, soon after the shock of May 2024, will make his prospects very bleak.

Whether politicians, government, judiciary, healthcare, or education, everything is fake and untrustable. 1. Poor Quality Medicines Or Fake Drugs? Before publishing these results, CDSCO also sends these reports to the makers (pharma companies), instructing them to check the product/control samples. In turn, pharma companies check their samples and submit reports to CDSCO or state regulators.
Officials from top pharma companies told News18 that they respond to the government within the timeline of 10-12 days with the test reports. However, it does not guarantee that their name will be taken off the alert list.
“Despite providing all the details of our investigation, our name still appears in defaulters. Eventually, this tarnishes the brand’s reputation," an official from a top Mumbai-based pharma company said, requesting anonymity.

“Syama Prasad Mookerjee was an educationist, he was a scholar. But as far as his politics and ideology are concerned, he was a very communal leader. He is known as the divider of Bengal. So Syama Prasad Mookerjee is honoured in Bengal as an educationist, not as a social reformer, not as a politician,” Bose said. He added, “Changing the name of Sealdah station after Syama Prasad Mookerjee is against the ideology of Bengal, which is inclusive and secular.” Meanwhile, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh suggested that if Sealdah station is to be renamed, it should be in honour of Swami Vivekananda.
