Heartbreaking that 9 lives including 3 children were lost in the Palam fire on 18 March, and the DM inquiry report is still awaited even after 45 days. Today, we lost another 9 precious lives including a young child in a fire in Vivek Vihar.
Families are devastated. We urge the CM & LG saab to please expedite the Palam report and take urgent steps to prevent such tragedies. Public safety must be a priority, Reels are not.

The price of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders, commonly known as 'chotu' cylinders, has increased by ₹261 per cylinder effective May 1, 2026. This hike applies to commercial/mini cylinders, affecting small businesses, while domestic 14.2 kg LPG rates remain unchanged. The move follows rising global energy costs, with 19 kg commercial cylinders also seeing a steep increase of ₹993.These mini cylinders are often used by restaurants, roadside vendors, and small commercial establishments. In April 2026, more than 23.44 lakh 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders were sold across India. Daily sales recently topped 1 lakh units, compared to a daily average of roughly 77,000 in February 2026. For broader context, while millions of these 5 kg cylinders are sold monthly, they represent a small fraction of India's total LPG ecosystem, which includes over 33 crore active domestic consumers primarily using the standard 14.2 kg cylinders.
