Punjab Govt forms high-powered panel to finalise job reservation for Agniveers. Mann said the services of Agniveers could be effectively utilised in departments such as Punjab Police, Forest Department, Fire Services, Jails, Home Guards and PESCO.
“The criteria regarding reservation and selection of Agniveers should be finalised at the earliest so that the services of these highly skilled and disciplined youth can be utilised in the best possible manner,” the Chief Minister said.
Highlighting Punjab’s contribution to national service, Mann said the state has always been known as the “sword arm of the nation” and its youth have a proud tradition of serving the country with courage and sacrifice.

Cooking Oil: India imports nearly 60% of its edible oil needs — mainly palm oil, soybean oil, and sunflower oil.

The West Asia / Iran conflict has increased: shipping and insurance costs, crude oil prices, global freight charges. Global producers are diverting more palm oil and soybean oil toward biofuel production, reducing food supply availability.
Retail cooking oil prices have risen sharply: Palm oil: around ₹120 → ₹145/litre Sunflower oil: around ₹180 → ₹200/litre Groundnut oil also increased by ₹15–20/litre.

Middle-class and poor households are feeling pressure on monthly budgets. Restaurants and food businesses are facing higher operating costs.
The edible oil industry body SEA has requested: freight subsidies, priority port berthing for oil-import ships. India is also exploring alternative import sources, including China-linked supply channels. Bigger Economic Concern
India’s rising import bill for oil, gold, and energy is putting pressure on: the Rupee,foreign exchange reserves, inflation.

If global tensions continue, edible oil prices may remain high for several more months.The crisis of edible oil is greater than that of crude oil; shortage likely to emerge soon: Cooking Oil Import: For India, the import of petrol and diesel is not the only concern, but edible oil has also become a major economic challenge. In the past few years, India has developed a robust policy to tackle the crude oil crisis, but the situation with edible oil is even more complex.
