Today, the country's largest population travels by rail, yet in the name of safety and facilities in the railways, only tokenism is being done. Laborers and ordinary passengers are forced to travel packed like sardines. Many times more people travel than the capacity of one coach — this is no secret to anyone.
    In such a dilapidated system, three major rail accidents were barely averted in the last two days. These incidents, coming one after another, clearly show that the railway safety system is in serious crisis.
    Several rail accidents have occurred during the tenure of this very government, but so far, no one's accountability has been fixed.
