EGI Condemns Deletion of Veteran Journalist R. Rajagopal's Name From Electoral Rolls, Non-Renewal of His Passport
I had submitted the passport renewal application on February 27 and got an appointment for March 19. On March 27, my name was deleted from the electoral roll of the Ballygunge constituency in Kolkata. Like nearly 27 lakh other residents of West Bengal, I was excluded on account of what were described as “logical discrepancies”.

Apparently, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process could trace neither my name nor that of my late father in the 2002 voters’ list. My father, a retired professor of economics and a former secretary of the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi in Kerala, passed away in 2016.

I remain unable to understand how a conscientious voter like him could have been absent from the rolls. No reason was furnished for my exclusion even after I submitted my matriculation certificate, and my appeal is now pending before one of the tribunals constituted pursuant to the Supreme Court’s directions.

As a consequence, I was unable to vote in the recent election.

Delhi Police has cut off sanitation facility at Jantar Mantar after Sonam Wangchuk announced his hunger strike.

No water connection and hygiene measures.

Despite repeated pleas and telling them about Wangchuk ji’s age and health concerns, the Police is not cooperating and we suspect that other such basic facilities too will be cut off.

India's Adani Airports will invest more than 200 billion rupees 20,000 Crores ($2.12 ​billion) to develop airport-linked commercial districts ‌across six locations in the country, the Adani Group firm said on Thursday.
The developments ​will span more than 655 acres ​across airports in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, ⁠Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati.
Adani ​Airports currently manages eight airports across India, ​according to its website.
Nearly 70% of the planned investment will be concentrated in Mumbai and ​Navi Mumbai, reflecting the region's ​position as India's leading commercial and financial hub.
Airport ‌cities ⁠will include hotels, retail centres, office space and entertainment venues integrated with airport infrastructure.
The company said the developments were ​inspired by ​airport-city ⁠models in Singapore, Dubai, Amsterdam and Seoul
The company has already ​signed agreements with IHG Hotels & ​Resorts ⁠for five hotels for the project, and is in talks with partners ⁠across ​food and beverage, and ​entertainment segments. ($1 = 94.3950 Indian rupees)

Brooklyn-based U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis said federal prosecutors' May 18 announcement that they would no longer pursue the case, which charged Adani with securities fraud and wire fraud stemming from an alleged bribery scheme, did not sufficiently explain their decision.
