2. Today we held a meeting of the district presidents, district secretaries, assembly presidents and organisation ministers of all the assemblies of Delhi. During this, all the officials presented their reports and suggestions. It has been decided in today's meeting that the Speaker of the Assembly will submit his review report in the next 10 days and on the basis of this report, discussion will be held and further decision will be taken. The complaint was filed by US deportee Jaswinder Singh, who alleges that he paid ₹45 lakh for a US visa but was instead sent via a donkey route (illegal immigration). Jaswinder, a 10th pass, filed the complaint leading to the case.

While the initiative aims to address the skewed sex ratio and eliminate societal bias, such incidents suggest otherwise — societal pressure continues to take a toll on families with daughters.

    The BBBP programme has yet to make a significant progress in improving the sex ratio at birth (SRB), says the state health department. The latest data indicates Haryana has recorded its lowest SRB since 2017, when it stood at 914 girls per 1,000 boys. After fluctuating over the years — 914 (2018), 923 (2019), 922 (2020), 914 (2021), 913 (2022), and 914 (2023) — the state registered an SRB of 910 by the end of 2024.

    Costa Rica agrees to take Indian deportees, 1st batch reaches. Central American country Costa Rica has agreed to accept illegal migrants, who are nationals of other countries, including India, from the US. Costa Rica will house these deportees at “migrant centres” till they are finally deported to the countries of their origin. Earlier, Panama and Guatemala had offered to do so for the US.This adds a twist to the ongoing deportations as the US was sending illegal migrants directly to India. Sources said with these agreements in place with Costa Rica, Panama and Guatemala, the US will address its domestic audience by showing that the migrants have been removed. The deported people will stay at the facilities till their home countries verify their antecedents. In some cases, the verification will take months, meaning the deportees will be held up in Costa Rica, Panama and Guatemala. Costa Rica will serve as a bridge for them to reach their countries of origin,” it said. The US-funded repatriation is being supervised by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) which will oversee the migrants’ care during their stay, according to the statement.
