    In a major blow to trans-border smuggling, Amritsar Rural Police has successfully recovered 23 Kg Heroin from village Devi Daspura, Jandiala. The consignment is linked to a smuggling network operated by #USA-based smuggler Jasmit Singh @ Lucky. In this case, Sahilpreet Singh @ Karan, a resident of Devi Daspura, has been nominated, and multiple police teams are actively working to arrest him. An FIR under the NDPS Act registered at PS Jandiala, @AmritsarRPolice  Further investigations are underway to trace both backward and forward linkages in the smuggling network. @PunjabPoliceInd  remains committed to dismantling drug cartels and making Punjab drug-free.

Months after HC order, Army denies permission for Ayodhya hotel An application had been sent to the Army for construction near a village controversially denotified by the Ayodhya Development Authority. The Indian Army has denied permission for the construction of a hotel in Ayodhya’s Ghatampur village, saying the land was reserved as a buffer zone in a firing range.

    This is the first such denial by the Army after the Allahabad High Court ordered the Ayodhya Development Authority in September last year to seek no-objection certificates from the Army for construction in 13 villages, including Ghatampur. The court order came months after the bench had imposed a blanket ban on approval of maps for construction activity in the area.

  6. India's central bank said on Wednesday it will infuse $21 billion in rupee liquidity into the banking system in a bid to ease lending conditions and boost economic growth. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) "will continue to monitor evolving liquidity and market conditions and take measures as appropriate to ensure orderly liquidity conditions," it said in a press release. As part of the measures, the RBI will conduct two open market operations, totalling one trillion rupees ($11.50 billion) on March 12 and March 18. It will also conduct a dollar-rupee buy-sell swap worth $10 billion on March 24, the central bank said.
