Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema says, "...Today, the revenue has increased to Rs 11,800 Crores, this is an 88% increase (under new Excise Policy). I think this is a massive increase in the revenue of Punjab under the AAP Government. What did the previous govts do in Punjab? They ran a parallel liquor mafia with two parallel excise policies - one by the mafia and the other by the Govt. We finished the liquor mafia..."

Revenue of Rs 11800 crore was obtained from the new excise policy. Giving information, the Minister of State @HarpalCheemaMLA of Punjab said that after the formation of @AamAadmiParty government, the state benefited from the new excise policy in Punjab. From 2017 to 2022, the Congress government of Captain Amarinder Singh earned revenue of Rs 5100 crore to Rs 6200 crore from excise. While the Aam Aadmi Party government crossed 8428 crores in 2022-23. Starting from 8428 crores in 2023-24, it crossed 9235 crores. In 2024-25, this revenue reached close to 9565 crores. Whereas by 31 March 2025, there will be a revenue of up to 10 thousand 200 crores. However, our target was 10145 crores. Harpal Singh Cheema said that this was possible by eliminating the liquor mafia operating under the previous governments and implementing the new policy with transparency.
