Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Delhi government over rising power outages across the capital, citing a surge in inverter sales and increasing public distress.
During her visit to Ambedkar Colony in the Chhatarpur Assembly constituency, Atishi met with residents who complained of prolonged power cuts and irregular water supply. “It’s been less than two months since the BJP took charge, and they’ve already dismantled the 24x7 power supply system that Delhi maintained for over a decade,” she said.

Won't Change Registered Or Notified Waqfs, Including Waqfs-by-User, During Hearing : Centre Tells Supreme Court...The Centre made the statement after the Supreme Court raised concerns about the drastic changes made to the Waqf law.
In response to the petitions challenging the Waqf(Amendment) Act 2025, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta today made the following statements before the Supreme Court :Non-Muslims won't be appointed to Central Waqf Councils and State Waqf Boards in terms of the amended provisions during the hearing.
Waqfs, including waqf-by-user, whether declared by way of notification or registration, will not be de-notified till the next date of hearing. "During the course of the hearing, Solicitor General states that the Union would like to put a response within 7 days. He further assures the Court that no appointments will be made to the Council and the Board under Sections 9 and 14. Till the next date of hearing, Waqf, including Waqf by user, already registered or declared by way of notification, shall neither be de-notified or the Collector will change. We take the statement on record."

Loya passed away under mysterious circumstances in December 2014.
His family members revealed to Caravan inconsistencies in the reported account of the death, the procedures followed after his death, and the condition of the judge’s body when it was handed over to the family. Their requests for an inquiry commission to look into the death had fallen on deaf ears.

For three days, a house sparrow remained trapped behind the glass frontage of a sealed textile shop, unable to find its way out. The sound of its tiny wings fluttering against the glass broke the silence, reaching the hearts of locals. On April 8, Manoj Kumar, a mason, was the first to spot the bird. It had entered through a pipe hole but couldn’t find a way out. Despite efforts from locals, the fire authorities, the Village Officer, and even the District Collector, no one could intervene due to a court order sealing the shop over a property dispute. But the villagers refused to give up. From autorickshaw drivers to shopkeepers, they took matters into their own hands—feeding the sparrow through a small hole to keep it alive. As the bird’s survival grew more uncertain, they took their plea to court. In an unprecedented move, Principal District Judge K.T. Nisar Ahammed personally arrived to authorise the opening of the sealed shop.
