PUNJAB NEWS
SANGRUR,(Reuters) - To combat the worsening air in India's capital New Delhi, several farmers in the neighbouring northern state of Punjab are packing off crop stubble to factories for recycling instead of torching it. Stubble burning every winter is a major contributor to New Delhi being one of the world's most polluted cities, with the smoke combining with vehicle exhaust and dust and remaining trapped in the atmosphere because of slow wind speeds in lower temperatures.

Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced that the state cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has approved a complete restructuring of the free sanitary napkin distribution programme, now renamed the ‘Navi Dishaa Scheme.’ The initiative aims to ensure reliable, consistent and transparent delivery of menstrual hygiene support to women across the State.
Under the revamped system, each eligible woman will receive nine sanitary napkins every month, distributed through Anganwadi Centres (AWCs). With an estimated benchmark of 50 beneficiaries per centre, the scheme targets 13,65,700 women every month, with plans to further expand coverage so that no eligible woman is left out.

Yesterday, on the martyrdom day of the brave young revolutionary Kartar Singh Sarabha Ji, who toiled tirelessly for the country's freedom at a young age, I participated in the state-level event held at his ancestral village Sarabha and offered flowers of reverence to him. At his ancestral home, I also refreshed memories related to him. Along with that, I took part in the tournament being jointly organized by the panchayat of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Ji's ancestral village, the sports club, and the surrounding villages. I extended best wishes to the players participating in the sports competitions. The residents of village Sarabha also presented some demands before us, which we will fulfill on a priority basis. ---- Yesterday, on the martyrdom day of the great revolutionary Kartar Singh Sarabha Ji, who sacrificed everything for the country's freedom at a young age, I participated in the state-level program organized at his ancestral village Sarabha and offered flowers of reverence to him.
