In Mahim, the Mori Road municipal school was “restricted” in 2020 citing poor condition. It’s 2025 now — not a single brick has been laid. The space is used for political banners, parking, Ganesh visarjan, even afternoon naps.
Just 500 meters away, the New Mahim school was declared “unsafe” in November 2024. Yet, kids kept studying there till April. Now that too is shut — and nothing’s happening.
Ironically, a reserved plot for a public school nearby is being used to build two massive towers. Just 11 classrooms are promised, with no playground, water issues, and toilets students can’t even use. Many children have dropped out because the new facility is too far and unsafe to reach. But it still doesn’t seem to affect the masses.
